David B. Hooten serves as the Oklahoma County Clerk. The County Clerk is the official record keeper for the county. The County Clerk provides a historic record of ownership for each tract of land in Oklahoma County. You can search land records on the main county website or visit the office to use public access terminals. Documents are recorded in-office and preserved electronically. The Clerk also handles payroll for county employees and manages all financial records and ledgers for county accounts. Under Title 11 O.S. § 1, the County Clerk serves as the official record keeper for many local documents, and that role covers everything from property filings to assumed business names.

The Court Clerk keeps records filed in Oklahoma County since 2002 in electronic form. Older records are on paper. You can look up cases through the Oklahoma State Courts Network (OSCN) for free. The system covers civil lawsuits, criminal cases, traffic violations, probate filings, and family court matters. Case numbers follow formats like CF for felonies, CM for misdemeanors, CJ for civil cases over $10,000, and FD for family and divorce matters.

Small claims suits in Oklahoma County can be brought for amounts up to $10,000. These cases are set for a hearing about four to six weeks after filing. Traffic court starts at 9 a.m. in Room 101. The office also provides passport services (not renewals), marriage licenses, and private process server licensing.

There are a few ways to search records in Oklahoma County. The fastest option is OSCN. It is free. No sign-up is needed. The OSCN search page lets you look up cases by name, case number, or case type. Most records get updated within 24 hours of filing. The system holds more than 15 million cases going back to the 1990s across all 77 counties.

For land and property records, the OKCountyRecords portal for Oklahoma County gives you access to deeds, mortgages, mineral interests, plats, liens, and judgments. You can search by name, instrument type, date range, or legal description. Advanced search lets you look up records by book, page, or instrument number. E-filing is also an option if you need to submit legal documents.

The Oklahoma Open Records Act under Title 51 O.S. § 24A.1 gives the public a right to see government records. Most records held by Oklahoma County offices are open. Some exceptions exist for juvenile records under Title 10 O.S. § 7501 and sealed court files. Copy fees at the courthouse run about $1.00 to $2.00 per page, and certification costs between $5.00 and $10.00 per document.

Online Resources for Oklahoma County

Oklahoma County has several online tools that work around the clock. The OSCN docket search covers all case types and is updated in real time. The District Court for Oklahoma County sits at 321 Park Avenue, Room 322, Oklahoma City, OK 73102. Sheriff sales are held twice a month on Thursdays at 2 p.m.

The Oklahoma County Assessor, Larry Stein, runs a property records portal where you can search by owner name, address, or parcel number. The Assessor's office is at 320 Robert S.
